100 AED Defibrillators to Patrol Warsaw Streets in City Fire Engines

Warsaw’s municipal fire brigade will begin deploying 100 new AED defibrillators on city streets via its patrol vehicles, funded through a citizen budget proposal.

Funding through the Citizen Budget

A total of 100 AED defibrillators were purchased for the Warsaw City Fire Service as part of a citizen budget initiative.

Expanding the Emergency Response Fleet

The devices will join existing equipment already on patrol since 2022 and will be mapped across the city to improve accessibility.

In the previous year, almost 1,500 fire‑brigade interventions required ambulance dispatch, underscoring the need for rapid on‑scene care.

How AED Devices Work

AEDs are user‑friendly: once turned on, they guide the operator on electrode placement and subsequent steps.

Their use increases resuscitation success by up to 80 %.

Community Outreach and Patrols

Firefighters regularly visit locations frequented by homeless individuals as part of the Street Medical Patrol project in partnership with “Jesteśmy nadzieją” clinic and Caritas Poland.

They also assist in securing public events.

Training and Qualifications

Warsaw fire services employ over 140 personnel qualified as medical responders or KPP rescue workers.

All officers receive regular first‑aid training.
