Accident Details
The tragic incident occurred around 6:30 PM on Saturday, March 28th, on National Road 50 between Zawiszyn (Wołomin County) and Łochów. An Audi collided with the rear of a trailer pulled by a farm tractor.
Preliminary findings indicate the Audi was traveling from Zawiszyn towards Łochów when it struck the trailer carrying logs. The force of the impact caused the wood to penetrate the vehicle.
Fatal Injuries and Response
The 11-year-old passenger of the Audi sustained injuries that could not be overcome despite rescue efforts. Firefighters, medical teams, and a helicopter from the Air Ambulance Service were dispatched to the scene, but the child was pronounced dead at the location.
Investigation Underway
Initial police investigations suggest the Audi may have been traveling at a high speed, evidenced by a long braking skid. The technical condition of the trailer, including the functionality of its rear lights, is also being examined; reports indicate the trailer was unlit.
The 35-year-old driver of the Audi was unharmed. Firefighters secured the damaged vehicles and cordoned off the area. Police are continuing the investigation under the supervision of the prosecutor to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.
Road Closure
National Road 50 between Zawiszyn and Łochów remained closed during the emergency response and investigation.
