A 12-year-old girl died in the hospital on Tuesday morning after being struck by a DAF truck while riding her bicycle across a designated crossing in Płock.
Fatal collision on Piłsudskiego Avenue
The incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of Piłsudskiego Avenue and Dworcowa Street. Preliminary police findings indicate that a 54-year-old driver operating a DAF truck was turning right when he struck the teenager who was using the bicycle crossing.
Emergency response and hospital intervention
Emergency services were dispatched to the scene immediately following the collision. The girl was transported to the hospital in life-threatening condition, but despite medical efforts, she could not be saved and subsequently died.
Investigation and traffic disruption
Police are currently working at the scene under the supervision of a prosecutor to secure evidence and document the circumstances of the tragedy. Dworcowa Street is completely blocked, and authorities expect traffic disruptions to persist until approximately 12:00 p.m. as officials continue their investigation.
