Warsaw will receive 120 Solaris 18 articulated buses from 2026 – 27, a 324 million‑PLN procurement to upgrade public transport and enhance emergency readiness.
New Solar 18 Buses Set to Arrive
The City Transport Authority has signed a contract for 120 Solaris 18 articulated buses, with the first delivery slated for the second half of 2026 and subsequent deliveries in 2027.
Passenger‑Centric Features
All vehicles are low‑floor, equipped with air conditioning, passenger information systems, wheelchair spaces and driver alcohol limits. They also include Braille‑labelled buttons, ramp‑deployment alerts, and a tilting mechanism for lateral adjustment. The buses use Euro 6 diesel engines and will have rooftop photovoltaic panels to reduce energy consumption.
Transport Director Comments
“I am glad that the fleet of buses bearing the Warsaw Public Transport logo will increase by 120 articulated vehicles,” says Katarzyna Strzegowska, director of the Municipal Transport Authority. “Nearly half a million people use Warsaw’s buses each year. Another batch of modern vehicles will bring greater comfort and safety for our passengers,” she adds.
Emergency‑Ready Capabilities
Special‑purpose features include four stretcher attachment points in each bus, enabling evacuation of injured or disabled passengers lying on stretchers during crises. The manufacturer will supply the stretcher rigs.
Tender and Cost Details
The contracts stem from an open tender announced in August, divided into two parts of 60 vehicles each won by Solaris Bus & Coach. The total cost is 324 million PLN.
Delivery to City Bus Works
The new buses will be transferred to the Municipal Bus Works for operation.
