Lithuanian authorities have charged 13 individuals with attempting the terror-related murders of a Bashkir activist and a pro-Ukraine fundraiser, allegedly linked to Russian military intelligence (GRU).
Charges Filed Against 13 Suspects
Lithuanian authorities announced Monday the indictment of 13 individuals suspected of attempting two terror-related murders within the country, with connections to the Russian military intelligence agency, GRU.
The targets were Ruslan Gabbasov, leader of the Bashkir national movement residing in Lithuania, and Valdas Bartkevičius, an activist fundraising for Ukraine.
Investigation Details
Prosecutor Martynas Jovaisa stated that charges have been brought against 13 individuals. Nine have been detained, while European Arrest Warrants have been issued for the remaining four, with active searches underway.
The suspects include one Lithuanian citizen, as well as individuals from Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Georgia, Latvia, Moldova, and Greece.

The prosecutor emphasized that the nature and objectives of the alleged crimes align with Russian interests. He noted a recent increase in hybrid crimes targeting EU countries, their national security interests, and individuals supporting Ukraine.
Specific Charges
The charges include illegal gathering of personal information, preparation for the murder of two individuals with terrorist intent, participation in and leadership of a terrorist group, recruitment to terrorist activities, financing and support of terrorism, and entering Lithuania for terrorist purposes.
