16‑year‑old Michał Karasia vanished after a night at a local disco on 19‑20 August 2023; authorities hold nine volumes of evidence and are still seeking witnesses.
Michał Karasia’s disappearance. Witness abroad
In recent months, investigators in Tarnobrzeg have continued to interrogate witnesses and inspect sites linked to Karasia’s disappearance. Despite carrying out various procedural actions, they have not yet clarified the circumstances of the incident. Prosecutor Andrzej Dubiel told Gazeta.pl that they are awaiting the interrogation of a witness who lives abroad and that the proceedings are being conducted under international legal assistance.
Investigation into the 16‑year‑old’s murder
The prosecutor’s office refuses to comment on hypotheses about the events that night. They state that the case is prosecuted under Article 148 § 1 of the Criminal Code, which covers murder. The evidence file now totals nine volumes.
What happened to Michał Karasia?
Sixteen‑year‑old Michał Karasia was last seen on the night of 19–20 August 2023, when he and friends went to a disco at the Babylon club in the nearby town of Bieliny. He was supposed to return home, but his whereabouts remain unknown. Authorities re‑examined the case in 2023. Witnesses said that Karasia boarded a car belonging to a blonde woman, while others said he was forcibly pulled into the vehicle. TVN24 reported that investigators traced the woman the teenager danced with that night, but her interrogation yielded no new information.
Searches of the area
TVN24 reported last year that a search was conducted of a cistern, dug into the ground behind the former Babylon club and used as a septic tank. The former disco building was also searched. In May, a nearby well and a clearing were examined.
