An 18‑year‑old from Sanok was discovered in a drainage in Zabłociec on Oct. 29, sparking police investigations into alleged threats and possible foul play.
Body of teen found in drainage
Police found the body of an 18‑year‑old Sanok resident in a drainage at 6:00 a.m. on October 29 in an apartment in Zabłociec, Podkarpackie Voivodeship. The victim was shirtless, face down, with arms drawn under his chest; his torso protruded from the drainage while his legs remained inside. He wore trousers and shoes, and a jacket lay on the opposite side.
The partner who reported the scene to the village chairman, Andrzej Chudziak, and then to the police and medical services told TVN24 it appeared the boy was trying to escape through the drain.
Investigations underway
Izabela Jurkowska‑Hanus, head of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Sanok, said the case is being investigated under the charge of causing serious bodily harm resulting in death, carrying a potential sentence of up to five years or life imprisonment. The doctor present at the scene did not rule out third‑party involvement, and unofficial reports indicate the victim suffered a head injury. An autopsy will be conducted on October 31, and the final charge may change based on further findings.
Alleged threats prior to death
The teen’s father told local media that his son had been telling him someone was threatening him shortly before his death and that he had not managed to report it to the police. He also mentioned that the boy had previously been beaten. Residents of Zabłociec claimed to have seen the teen frequently in the village, often alongside other adolescents, and that he had stayed at one villager’s house. The village chairman confirmed that after the teenager’s death, the host of the group left the village.
