18-Year-Old Dies After Collapse on Warsaw Bus, Day Before Exam

Karolina, an 18-year-old student preparing for her final exams, died April 28th after collapsing and suffering cardiac arrest on a Warsaw bus April 24th.

Karolina Kaniewska, a student at CLV Liceum Ogólnokształcące in Warsaw, lost consciousness on the 517 bus line on April 24th, leading to cardiac arrest. The incident occurred near the headquarters of the UNITERS Foundation.

Passengers and the bus driver, Andrzej, immediately began resuscitation efforts until paramedics arrived.

Driver Praised for Quick Response

The bus driver initiated CPR and calmly directed other passengers on how to assist. Warsaw Public Transport highlighted the driver’s actions, and the UNITERS Foundation shared details of the event.

Hospitalization and Community Support

Karolina was transported to MSWiA Hospital in critical condition. A blood donation appeal was launched, garnering support from family, friends, and the school community.

CLV Liceum Ogólnokształcące announced Karolina’s death on April 28, 2026. She was a student in class 4E and was scheduled to take her final exams this year.
