18-Year-Old Jihadist Indicted for School Attack Plot in Poland

18-year-old Remigiusz Ż. faces court for allegedly planning a school attack in Poland’s Podkarpackie region while collecting bomb-making instructions.

Prosecutor’s Office Files Indictment

The District Prosecutor’s Office in Tarnobrzeg announced on Friday, February 6, 2026, that it has referred an indictment to court against 18-year-old Remigiusz Ż. According to investigators, the man was preparing, among other things, to participate in a mass attack “targeted at a group of population undertaken to carry out or support the policy of the Islamic State and radical jihadist organizations.”

Death List and Bomb-Making Instructions Found

Prosecutor Andrzej Dubiel, spokesman for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Tarnobrzeg, stated that the investigation established that Ż. obtained, collected and stored information, instructions and articles about weapons, explosive materials, flammable and toxic substances, as well as methods of creating, placing and detonating explosive charges.

Targeted School in Podkarpackie Region

Dubiel noted that Remigiusz Ż. also possessed notes containing information about people designated for killing and the type of weapon used. Police found notes suggesting that the man planned to carry out an attack on one of the schools in the Podkarpackie province.

Additional Charges of Online Incitement

Investigators also accuse Remigiusz Ż. of inciting on the internet to commit crimes against life and health. The indictment also includes incitement to hatred on the basis of national and religious differences. According to the indictment, the crimes were to be committed between November 2024 and May 2025. Since June of last year, the man has been in custody. He faces a sentence of up to 18 years in prison.
