Brother of Polish Economist Shot in Greece: I Knew Who Was Behind It

The brother of slain economist Przemysław Jeziorski says he immediately recognized the killer, pointing to a professional hit orchestrated after a custody dispute.

Murder of a Polish Professor in Greece

On July 4th, in the suburb of Ajia Paraskiewi near Athens, the Greek police shot and killed a Polish economist, Przemysław Jeziorski. Police arrested five suspects, including the victim’s former wife. The wife denied involvement, while the victim’s present partner admitted to the shooting, claiming it was to prevent Jeziorski from taking the children.

Immediate Suspicion from the Victim’s Brother

Łukasz Jeziorski, the victim’s brother, relayed that his brother last contacted family on July 4th to arrange picking up his children from his former wife. Jeziorski stated that the former wife failed to send a photo of her children that day, a habit her brother usually followed. When the professor didn’t answer phone calls, family members grew concerned.

Family Panic and Attempts to Report

Jeziorski reported the disappearance to police on Sunday, only to learn the former wife, Nadia, sent a message saying “We must talk to Przemek.” When Jeziorski called, Nadia told him in a cold tone, “Przemek was shot, he’s dead. It’s the work of professionals.” He added that Przemek had been threatened and beaten by his former partner, yet had no enemies or gangster ties. He considered it a planned murder.

Details of the Crime

The attacker was found to aim for Jeziorski’s neck and chest before fleeing. Police charge the former wife, a 43‑year‑old, and a partner who admitted to the shooting. The investigation also detained a Bulgarian and two Albanians who “helped plan and execute” the killing. Prosecutors allege the age‑43 woman planned the murder, evidenced by photos and text messages on her phone.

Jeziorski had flown to Greece in late June to bring his former wife’s children to his custody. A legal claim sought to void the custody agreement. On July 3rd, the court confirmed the agreement’s validity, allowing Jeziorski to take the children throughout July, but the former wife had not applied for passports. On July 4th, Jeziorski called at 4:09 p.m. to confirm he was waiting, and he was killed at 4:10 p.m. The former wife claimed to have heard shots at the home.

“I instantly knew who was behind it,” Jeziorski said. “Przemek worked at a university. He had no enemies. He was not a gangster killed by professionals over settlements. I knew about the earlier threats and beatings. Who else could wish for Przemek’s death? It wasn’t an accident. It was a planned murder. Everything fit.”
