Israel Criticizes Tusk: Government Spokesman Delivers Strong Response Amid Gaza Conflict Debate

Israel’s Foreign Ministry condemns Donald Tusk’s Gaza conflict statement. Government spokesperson Adam Szłapka asserts Poland’s foreign policy independence, while Amnesty International calls on Tusk to officially denounce Israeli actions.

Government Spokesman Adam Szłapka’s Firm Stance

Adam Szłapka, spokesperson for the Polish government, addressed the controversy during a press conference on August 5. When questioned about Israel’s Foreign Ministry criticism of Donald Tusk’s Gaza conflict post, Szłapka made it clear: “Poland’s foreign policy is shaped by the Polish government, no one else. It is not Poland that is isolated on the international stage today.”

Amnesty International Calls for Official Condemnation

Human rights organization Amnesty International issued a direct appeal to Donald Tusk. The group urged the Polish Prime Minister to officially condemn what they described as Israel’s criminal actions in Gaza, labeling them genocide. Amnesty also called on Poland to do everything possible to stop the genocide and hold perpetrators legally accountable. Furthermore, they demanded transparency regarding military equipment trade between Poland and Israel. Amnesty International wants the Polish government to take decisive action.

Israel’s Foreign Ministry Responds to Tusk’s Post

Israel’s Foreign Ministry responded firmly to Tusk’s statement, accusing him of unjustly linking his legitimate condemnation of Hamas with unacceptable references to politicians and the horrific days of World War II. Reacting to Tusk’s post on social media platform X, the ministry declared: “Poland was, is, and will be on Israel’s side in confronting Islamic terrorism, but never on the side of politicians whose actions lead to hunger and the deaths of mothers and children. This should be clear to nations that have endured the hell of World War II together,” wrote Donald Tusk.

Tensions Escalate in Exchange Between Sikorski and Rose

Tusk’s statement followed a heated exchange between Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski and US diplomat Tom Rose, a candidate for US ambassador to Poland. Sikorski said during the “International Report” podcast, “Starving children in Gaza do not know what Hamas is,” and “Israel was provoked but overused force.” Rose responded by saying, “Israel is not behaving like the tyrants of history,” but acts within international law, even when its enemies ignore all its mandates. “Israel has provided its mortal foe with more humanitarian aid than any country in war history,” Rose added on platform X.
