Jolanta Dębiec of the Lublin District Prosecutor’s Office informed on Monday, August 11, that Aleksandra K. was charged with intentional murder of her son. The newborn’s body was found during the night of Saturday to Sunday (August 9–10) in the municipality of Ułęż in the Lublin region.

Investigations show that the woman the boy in a canvas crate immediately after birth and abandoned him on the pigsty property. After the delivery period she failed to provide proper medical care and left him in the old pigsty building, creating conditions that made it impossible for him to survive.

According to investigators, the 31‑year‑old acted with the intention of directly depriving the newborn of life. On Tuesday, August 12, an autopsy will determine the cause of death. The prosecutor has sought a court’s approval for a three‑month temporary detention. Aleksandra K. gave explanations, but the prosecutor did not release them for the sake of the case. The woman faces a life sentence.
