“Interesting, what purpose is this disinformation being spread?” wrote MSWiA Minister Marcin Kierwiński on X. The Minister and Border Guard addressed the footage posted on social media by the leader of the Border Defense Movement.
Border Guard Responds to Video
“We disavow it! The circulating online clip shows a car on the Lithuanian side of the state border, and it has no connection to any migration event,” the Border Guard wrote on X. “The Border Defense Movement had already been informed about this earlier by the duty service of the SG Sejny office. The situation at the Polish-Lithuanian border is continuously monitored, and Border Guard officers are preventing illegal migration,” the Border Guard added in a post on X.
Kierwiński: More Fake News About Some Bąkiewicz
The SG post was shared by Minister Marcin Kierwiński. He wrote: “The Border Guard is dealing with more fake news about some Bąkiewicz. Interesting, what purpose this disinformation is being spread. Is it just about ‘likes’ or something more…” The minister wrote. Earlier, Robert Bąkiewicz posted a video on social media showing a car parked near a forest. The founder of the Border Defense Movement addressed Kierwiński: “Sir, what is happening at the border with Lithuania, is everything still under control as usual?”
Detentions at the Lithuania and Germany Borders
During inspections conducted on August 7, entry to Poland was denied to six people at the borders with Lithuania and Germany. This involved three people at the Polish-Lithuanian border and three at the Polish-German border. The temporary checks introduced on July 7 at the borders with Lithuania and Germany were extended until October 4. These actions are carried out at thirteen locations on the Polish-Lithuanian border and at fifty-two on the Polish-German border. The checks are conducted by the Border Guard, Police, Military Gendarmerie, and Territorial Defense Forces.
Bąkiewicz May Face Charges of Defaming Uniformed Officers
Robert Bąkiewicz has announced he will appear on August 18 in the District Prosecutor’s Office in Gorzów Wielkopolskie. The Prosecutor’s Office will decide whether Bąkiewicz will face charges in the investigation concerning the alleged defamation of uniformed officers at the Polish-German border. The prosecutor entity in Szczecin is demanding the charges. The investigation pertains to his behavior at the end of the previous month when a right‑wing activist approached a joint border patrol of Border Guards and Gendarmes in Słubice, accusing them of following orders that “dishonour the Polish uniform.” The presentation of the charges was postponed because the designated prosecutor firstly delayed the action, then submitted a request to exclude the case. The national prosecutor Dariusz Korneluk did not agree to the exclusion.
