Chaos at a Belarusian Rapper’s Concert in Warsaw: Band Flag in the Background

Maks Korż’s performance spiraled out of control when fans began jumping barriers, prompting a response from both security and the artist; an attendee described the ensuing chaos.

Maks Korż’s Concert Spirals Out of Control

Maks Korż (Max Korzh), a Belarusian rapper who criticizes the regime of Alexander Lukashenko, performed on Saturday, 9 August, at Warsaw’s National Stadium as part of his comeback after a long hiatus. According to Onet, tickets sold out in just three minutes and about 60,000 people attended. At one point, some fans breached the rules by jumping over barriers and rushing onto the stadium floor. Security staff tried to stop the teenagers, but many incidents proved ineffective.

Concert Attendee: First Time I’ve Seen Such Scenes

In an interview with Onet, a participant recounted, “At one point there was absolute chaos.” She added, “Security couldn’t handle the vandalism. This wasn’t my first stadium concert, but the first time I’ve seen scenes like this.” Belsat reports suggested the concert could have been cancelled due to audience behaviour. “I heard no voice from the speakers trying to restore order instead of music. We all thought the concert would be cancelled,” she said.

Bandera Flag at the Concert

The event began 90 minutes late. Super Express reported that an attendee raised a Bandera flag—a symbol linked in Poland with the Volyn crimes. Despite organizers’ prohibition, additional flags appeared, including a Belarus flag. Belsat noted that security confiscated a Ukrainian flag at the entrance, yet some spectators managed to bring national symbols onto the stadium.
