Donald Trump Urges Homeless to Leave Washington: “Act Immediately”

Trump announced a swift plan to remove the homeless from Washington, declaring his pledge to make the capital safer and more attractive, criticizing Federal Reserve spending, and underlining the necessity of immediate relocation.

New Trump Plan for Washington

On Sunday, August 10, President Donald Trump declared that Washington must be emptied of all people experiencing homelessness, insisting they do so “immediately.” This message appeared amid Trump’s post on TruthSocial announcing an upcoming press conference on capital safety and “beautification.” He warned that taxpayers would not cover the $3.1 billion renovation of Federal Reserve facilities that he described as “inelegant and chronic,” suggesting a more modest $50‑100 million improvement would save $3 billion and reduce construction delays.

Trump has repeatedly criticized Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, branding him a “failed, stupid, politicized professional,” and argued that Powell’s decision to keep interest rates high and the central bank’s headquarters facelift were misguided. He hinted that criminal elements in Washington would not abate “because people will be imprisoned and no more leniency will be offered.”

Washington Not for All

According to a White House source, Washington is becoming “ever dirtier and less attractive,” despite Mayor Muriel Bowser’s efforts in the District of Columbia. Trump promised that just as he secured the border last month—eliminating illegal arrivals compared to the previous year—he would similarly manage the capital’s safety and beauty. He assured residents that the city would no longer tolerate such conditions.

Presidential Decree on Homelessness

A Polish Press Agency correspondent noted that homelessness has long plagued Washington and other large American cities. Trump has vocalized frustration with temporary city tents and the visibility of individuals sleeping on streets and sidewalks. In July, he signed an executive order aimed at assisting city officials in removing homeless individuals from public spaces. The regulation enables, among other measures, directing mentally ill or substance‑abusing individuals toward treatment facilities, citing police statistics that indicate a 30‑year low in crime in Washington.
