Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński cautions that the recent fall of former PARP chief Katarzyna Dober‑Stachurska is only the beginning, urging further accountability in the KPO funds mismanagement case.
Kierwiński Stresses More Heads May Fall
In the Sunday edition of “Fakty po Faktach,” Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński responded to questions regarding the allocation of KPO funds to the HoReCa sector. He stated that President Katarzyna Dober‑Stachurska, dismissed in July, bears responsibility for how those funds were spent. While acknowledging the possibility of irregularities, he warned that her fall is not the last, that more officials could be implicated. Kierwiński added that the ultimate decisions rest with the Prime Minister, noting that Donald Tusk has always acted decisively in such matters. He also revealed that the funds, previously blocked by PiS for Poles, were unblocked by Tusk himself. He criticized those who defended alleged theft in the Justice Fund, “Willi Plus,” and thousands of other PiS programmes, calling them “astonishingly brazen and arrogant.”
MFiPR Minister Accuses PARP
That evening, Minister for Funds and Regional Policy Katarzyna Pełczyńska‑Nałęcz posted on X in response to the former head of the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PARP). She wrote, “The President did not send me any letter in the past year regarding HoReCa irregularities.” She again placed responsibility on PARP and its operators, citing that the contract requires them to ensure grants are awarded in accordance with regulations. She referenced the oversight previously assigned by the minister and added that besides PARP, the Ministry itself is conducting scrutiny, saying, “The mouse will not slip away; that will be the case.”
Former PARP Chief Blames Ministry for Responsibility
On LinkedIn, former PARP chief Katarzyna Duber‑Stachurska wrote that the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy is responsible for the KPO scandal. She explained that PARP is an implementing agency and does not make decisions on programmes or set funding criteria; all procedures and agreements are approved by the ministry. She claimed that the ministry was aware of the boats and questioned operators about whether combustion‑powered boats could be authorized. The minister said she personally intervened to loosen initial rules, ensuring funds flowed more smoothly and quickly.
