Parliamentary MP Suspended Over Controversial Committee Meeting

Marcin Józefaciuk was suspended from the KO caucus after a public critique of government education policy and the inclusion of a convicted pedophile in a parliamentary child‑protection meeting.

Józefaciuk Suspended

Chairman Zbigniew Konwiński announced on Saturday, August 9, that MP Marcin Józefaciuk had been suspended from KO caucus membership for two months. The decision, made the day before, cited the MP’s public criticism of the government’s education policies and his involvement in a meeting that included a person registered as a pedophile.

Parliamentary Committee Meeting with a Convicted Individual

On Monday, August 4, the Parliamentary Committee on Child Protection during Parental Separation met, chaired by Józefaciuk. A person convicted of sexual offenses against her own child, listed in the public pedophile registry, attended the session, calling herself an “alienated parent.” Her remarks disregarded context and child welfare, and a committee member described her presence as absolutely unacceptable.

Józefaciuk posted on X that he had been misled about the extent of the individual’s wrongdoing and that the office has no authority to block former offenders. He asserted that the meeting had been tarnished by her presence, maintaining that procedures were followed and that he does not diminish his responsibility.

Criticism of the “Politicization” of Education

Another reason for the suspension was the MP’s comments on government actions in education. He expressed disappointment with the politicization of many issues, arguing that education should be pursued beyond partisan divisions, yet he noted that many decisions are made hastily without adequate consultation with teachers and administrators.
