The explosion took place on Monday, 11 August at 21:26 in shaft 32a at a depth of 850 meters. The Jastrzębska Coal Company reported that a rescue operation is in progress. “Eight miners managed to evacuate on their own, but there is no contact with one miner,” the statement read. The mine director immediately initiated a rescue effort. TVP Info said there is no information about the severity of the blast.

Spokesperson Statement
Jastrzębska Coal Company spokesman Wojciech Sury told TVN24 that the miners who surfaced are hospitalized and their injuries are not life‑threatening. “We are focusing on the search. We will do everything in our power to resolve the situation as quickly as possible,” he emphasised. Sury, quoted by TVP Info, added that the entire area of the shaft is out of operation and that seven rescue teams are participating in the operation.
