Ukrainian Ambassador was quoted as saying Ukrainians in Poland, like himself, are guests and must obey Polish law, following the incident at a Belarusian rapper’s concert.
Ukrainian Ambassador on National Stadium Events
I do not understand why Ukrainians even went to that stadium. The concert was in Russian, and those who use that language are now killing Ukrainians, waging war, and destroying Ukraine, the Ukrainian Ambassador, Wasyl Bodnar, told PAP. He added that Polish law enforcement will carry out the necessary proceedings to punish the culprits. Ukrainians, like myself, who are guests in this country, must obey the law. Those who break the law and disregard tradition, who lack understanding and sensitivity, will be held accountable. According to Bodnar, the people who broke the law at the stadium “came from other countries and do not permanently reside in Poland.”
63 Persons May Be Expelled From Poland
Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced on Tuesday that following the concert by Belarusian rapper Maks Korzy at the National Stadium, an expulsion proceeding has been initiated against 63 persons. The group includes 57 Ukrainians and 6 Belarusians. “The state must act decisively and swiftly to prevent or punish all perpetrators, whether they are Ukrainians, Belarusians, Poles, or Germans. The law must be obeyed. At the same time, anti‑Ukrainian sentiments must not be inflamed,” the prime minister said.
Incident at National Stadium
On Saturday at the PGE Narodowy in Warsaw, a concert by Belarusian rapper Maks Korzy was held. Some attendees jumped over fences and ran onto the stadium floor, contrary to the rules. Security intervened, and later the police engaged (though not necessarily on the floor). Photos from the event show a man with a flag associated with the Ukrainian nationalist revolutionary faction. An online statement later appeared from a man who claimed he had brought the flag and apologized, saying the flag was a symbol of support for Ukrainians.
Police: 50 People Imposed with Fines
Police arrested 109 people for various misdemeanors and crimes such as drug possession, violation of bodily integrity of security staff, possession and use of pyrotechnic substances, and intrusion into the event site. Fifty individuals were fined, totaling PLN 11,450. Thirty‑eight cases were sent to court for punishment. Police are gathering all relevant details and identifying those responsible for slogans that may qualify as crimes. The evidence has already been forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for legal assessment.
Stadium Operator Files Notice
The board of PL.2012+, the operator of the venue, filed a notice of potential criminal activity, together with the organiser, strongly condemning the exhibition of propaganda content for any totalitarian regime and calls that incite hatred. They stated that they strongly condemn the use of symbols, slogans, or signs associated with totalitarian regimes or spreading hatred on national, ethnic, or cultural lines. The operator regrets that during the event flags that caused negative historical associations appeared.
