Fr. Tadeusz Rydzyk storms out at Tusk’s government, accusing it of ongoing persecution, discrimination and relentless scrutiny.
Fr. Tadeusz Rydzyk Complains About Government Actions
In a radio interview, the priest stated that the actions of the current government towards his Lux Veritatis foundation amount to persecution. “The administration has been stalking, discriminating and harassing us with various controls for the past two years,” he said. “One inspection ended, then another followed, or several checks at once. Are they really serving Poland? Are they even Polish?”
Dispute Between the Ministry of Culture and the Heritage and the Foundation of Fr. Rydzyk
Recently, the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage filed a lawsuit against Lux Veritatis, demanding the annulment of the contract that established the “Memory and Identity” museum. The ministry claims the agreement is in the public interest, while the foundation argues that the ministry seeks the museum’s closure. Rydzyk called the case “unprecedented” and warned that “No entity has ever treated us so unfairly. Why? Because they threaten our memory and identity. A nation that forgets its past dies without a future.” He added that running the museum is “an enormous effort” for the foundation, and that the government keeps persecuting, destroying, and undermining their work.
Supreme Audit Office Examined the Agreement Between the Ministry and Lux Veritatis
In November last year, the Supreme Audit Office, at the request of the regional prosecutor from Rzeszów, inspected the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. auditors reviewed documents from 2018 onward. Earlier, prosecutors launched an investigation into the former ministry head Piotr Gliński’s alleged overreach on 20 June 2018 when he signed a contract with Lux Veritatis to create the “Memory and Identity” museum in Toruń. The ministry allocated 218 million zlotys to the project. In December, officials of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau searched several foundation properties, seized documents, and seized electronic media. Gliński denies any misuse of authority. “The accounts of Mr. Tusk are going wrong because we lack basis for settlement,” he said in November, suggesting that many officials refuse to collaborate in the illicit activities linked to the prime minister, who demands state apparatus conduct settlements without justification.”
