Warsaw: Delivery Van Hits Pedestrians at Crosswalk, Second Victim Dies

Investigations are underway into a Monday incident on Marymoncka Street, where a delivery van driver struck pedestrians crossing at a crosswalk, resulting in a second death.

After 13:00 on Marymoncka Street 161 in Warsaw, a serious crash occurred. The driver of a Toyota Proace City, for unknown reasons, ran into a pedestrian crossing, striking four people. All victims were transported to a hospital. The injured were three women and a man. The most severely injured was a 72‑year‑old woman, who died later that day in hospital.

Accident on Marymoncka Street. New Information

TVN Warsaw’s portal reported on Wednesday that a second female victim died. This was confirmed by prosecutor Andrzej Piaseczny of the Warsaw District Prosecutor’s Office at Gazeta.pl. The woman died in hospital due to multiple organ injuries. A third person suffered upper and lower limb fractures and spinal injuries. The fourth person had been discharged after receiving treatment for head injuries.

Charges Against the 47‑Year‑Old Driver

In the afternoon of Wednesday, the driver was questioned by prosecutors. The investigators indicated that the defendant would be charged with causing an accident with fatal consequences. It is unknown whether the prosecutor will request the driver’s arrest. It is known that the man was sober at the time of the incident and was not under the influence of drugs or psychoactive substances.
