In Świnoujście, a fragment of a human body was spotted floating in the water at the pier on Władysława IV Street. The discovery was made by a resident on Tuesday, August 12, and the remains were found near the Maritime Fisheries Museum. Police received a call about the location and responded promptly, according to iswinoujscie.pl.
Birds Pecked at the Body Fragment
Before authorities arrived and cordoned off the area, witnesses reported that birds were pecking at the body fragment. In addition to the police, the “Magda” unit from the Szczecin Maritime Authority also arrived on the scene. No details about the body were released by the police. Witnesses, quoted by local media, wondered whether the remains might belong to a person who has been missing for several days—someone who entered the water and did not surface. On Friday, August 8, police were searching for a man alleged to have entered Świnoujście and not left; the operation was conducted near the Białik crossing on the Warsaw side, opposite the PKP station.
