Fire Breaks Out in Production Hall, Firefighter Contact Lost, “Conditions Are Very Difficult”

In the town of Kawle, Pomeranian Voivodeship, a massive fire engulfed a livestock processing facility. About 200 firefighters are on the scene, but contact has been lost with one volunteer firefighter who remains missing.

On Wednesday, August 13, a fire erupted in a production hall in Kawle, Pomeranian Voivodeship. According to Polsat News, 41 fire‑rescue replacements were on site and 17 were en route. Contact has been lost with one volunteer firefighter, whose whereabouts are being searched for.

Intense firefighting operations are underway at the poultry processing plant. “The conditions are very difficult,” stated the spokesperson for the State Fire Service.

Workers Evacuated

TVN24 reports that the fire ignited in the attic housing the battery room. Employees evacuated the plant before the fire department arrived. Approximately 200 firefighters are engaged in the operation.

During the rescue efforts, contact was lost with one firefighter. Searches for the missing individual are ongoing, said the press officer of the Pomeranian Fire Department, Captain Jakub Friedenberger.

Express Kaszubski, citing the District Police Headquarters in Kartuz, reports that the regional road 211 is fully blocked.
