Presidential press secretary Rafał Leśkiewicz announced on Wednesday, August 13, that “at Donald Tusk’s request, tomorrow (Thursday – amended) at 12:00, Karol Nawrocki will meet with the Prime Minister at the Presidential Palace.” Earlier, the Prime Minister had revealed the likely topic at a press conference, saying: “I proposed to the President’s office that we could meet tomorrow to review what is happening on the Ukrainian front and in negotiations involving other countries.” The Prime Minister also hinted that he would speak with Nawrocki about ensuring that neither enemies nor allies could dictate their actions.

On the same day, a meeting took place with the so‑called Volunteer Coalition before President Trump’s Friday discussion with Vladimir Putin in Alaska. It was decided that all negotiations must include a clause for a weapon‑suspension. If Russia refuses, sanctions will be tightened. Ukraine is to have solid and credible security guarantees, potentially through the deployment of volunteer forces after hostilities cease. The coalition stressed that “Russia cannot have veto power over Ukraine’s road to the EU and NATO.” They also announced continued collaboration with both Trump and Zelensky.

Donald Trump’s Teleconference with Karol Nawrocki

On Wednesday, Trump organized a teleconference with European leaders and Zelensky, inviting Nawrocki. “President Karol Nawrocki, during consultations with the President of the USA and other European leaders, presented a stance that has guided us for months and years amid Russia’s aggressive policy—only through firm language and concrete action can the Federation of Russia be deterred. We must not allow Russia to dictate Europe’s borders or individual states’ foreign policy directions,” wrote the Presidential Office.
