Portuguese media reported a tragic domestic accident that occurred in the Campanha neighbourhood of Porto, in northwest Portugal. A woman suffering from obesity accidentally fell from her bed. She intended to sit beside her husband, who lay on the floor, but fell onto him. A wall and the bed hindered her from getting up. The woman began to cry and call for help. Neighbours heard her and assisted her in getting up. Her husband, described by Portuguese media as a lean man, was unconscious. Medical help was called, but a physician confirmed the death of the 59‑year‑old. Circulation and breathing stopped.
Police Investigation
The Public Safety Police were also called to the scene, and after conducting necessary forensic examinations, they determined that the man died from accidental choking. This incident was classified accordingly. The woman was not charged and will face no accusations. She received full psychological support.
