A blaze in a plastic warehouse has prompted Ciechocinek Mayor Jarosław Jucewicz to issue an urgent appeal, urging residents to stay away from the beach and nearby streets.
Warehouse Fire Near Ciechocinek
Fire erupted on Thursday, August 14, in production‑storage halls dealing with foil processing in the village of Siarzewo (Aleksandrowice County, Kuyavian‑Pomeranian Voivodeship). According to Interia, the blaze also engulfed two small outbuildings and a car parked in front of the building. Consequently, 25 firefighter teams were dispatched. Senior Lieutenant Przemysław Baniecki of the Toruń PSP brigade said the firefighting operation “may take at least a few more hours.”
Victims, Losses and Injured
According to TVP Bydgoszcz, thick smoke hovered over the site, visible from dozens of kilometers away. There are currently no reports of fatalities. However, one person was injured. “During the exit from the hall, one of the men hit his head,” Senior Lieutenant Przemysław Baniecki told Interia. RMF24 reports that the building burned almost completely. Firefighters are attempting to protect nearby houses from the inferno.
Mayor Issues Urgent Appeal
Mayor Jarosław Jucewicz of Ciechocinek posted photos from the scene and urged residents not to head toward the beach. “Please avoid heading toward the municipal beach in Ciechocinek. Lipnowska Street and Słońsk Górny are obstructed,” he wrote.
