Warsaw will face severe traffic complications on August 15 during Polish Army Day parade, resulting in closures of key roads and bridges across the city, including Wisłostrada and several central streets and crossings.
Polish Army Day 2025: Warsaw Traffic Disruptions on Aug 15
On Friday, August 15 the Wisłostrada will be closed during the parade from Skłodowska‑Curie Bridge to Gagarina Street. Connections to Wisłostrada—including Grota‑Roweckiego, Śląsko‑Dąbrowski, and Poniatowskiego bridges—will also be closed. Detour routes will be established through Modlińska Street, Jagiellońska Street, Helski Coast, and Miedzeszyński Wall. The parade starts at 12:00 PM.
Closure of Piłsudski Square and Royal Street
By 10:00 AM a ceremonial guard change will occur at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Piłsudski Square. From 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM neither Piłsudski Square nor Royal Street will be accessible. Buses—lines 111, 116, 128, 175, 178, 180, 503—will be redirected onto alternative routes.
Bridge Closures and Parking Restrictions
During the Army Day celebrations, air traffic will involve aircraft crossings, so from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM traffic on Gdańsk Bridge, Śląsko‑Dąbrowski Bridge, and the pedestrian‑cycle bridge will be completely halted. Many locations will also enforce parking bans, particularly around Długa and Royal Streets and the parking lot beneath Solidarności Avenue.
Drone Flight Ban in Warsaw
The Warsaw Police Headquarters announced that on August 15, in zones designated by the Polish Civil Aviation Authority over the parade route, a complete ban on drone flights will apply. Officers stated that this aims to ensure the safety of aircraft taking part in the parade.
