Weather Ties Down for a Second Heatwave, Predicting 35° in Poland

Heat may soon break, but only briefly. IMGW forecasters anticipate a second surge.

Weather on Thursday

IMGW reports Thursday, August 14 will be clear and dry. Maximum temperatures reach 24 °C in the south, about 32 °C in the centre, up to 33 °C in the west. Winds will be light from the southeast. Friday’s heat remains similar, except in Lubusz Voivodeship, where temperatures climb to 35 °C.

Upcoming storms and rain

First weather changes arrive on Saturday, with a largely overcast sky expected across most of Poland, bringing brief rainfall and even thunderstorms and hail. Maximum temperatures hit 30 °C in southeastern Poland; elsewhere readings fall between 26 °C and 28 °C, except in the mountains and coast where they range from 20 °C to 22 °C.

Second heatwave

Synoptists foresee heat leaving for several days, returning on Wednesday, August 20. Initially residents of Lubusz Voivodeship will feel the rise, with forecasts of 30 °C. On Thursday, a warm front will extend into eastern Poland. The hottest sparks will be in the centre, where temperatures may reach 33 °C. However, the heat will not linger, as further cooling could arrive on Friday, August 22.
