The National Security Office (BBN), led by Sławomir Cenckiewicz, has requested access to Poland’s soldier registration system from the Ministry of Defence. President Karol Nawrocki’s spokesperson offers a response to the allegations.
BBN Requests Access to Soldier Registry
Onet reports that BBN, under the direction of Sławomir Cenckiewicz, demanded access to the Army’s soldier registration system from the Ministry of Defence. Historically, BBN staff have requested selective access to individual files for evaluating candidates for key military positions.
“Sławomir Cenckiewicz Always Plays With Files”
In a conversation with Onet, a high-ranking officer associated with the military stated that BBN sought access “because Sławomir Cenckiewicz—who has a long history of handling files—was appointed chief of BBN.” He recalled reviewing archives of the Military Intelligence Service during his tenure as its liquidation officer, and later, as director of the Military Historical Office, had access to army archives. Now he wants the system’s personnel data as well.
Influence of Antoni Macierewicz in BBN
Sources note that Cenckiewicz is linked to former defence minister Antoni Macierewicz. A military officer mentioned that when Macierewicz became defence minister, he demanded personal files of generals and colonels, which were publicly observed in his office. “With Macierewicz’s people now in President Nawrocki’s administration, it’s no surprise that they’ll be playing with files—their old, tried‑and‑tested methods—though they’re dangerous,” the interviewee said.
Statement from Karol Nawrocki’s Spokesperson
The Presidential Office released a statement on X by Rafał Leśkiewicz, spokesperson for Karol Nawrocki. Leśkiewicz clarified that BBN did not request access to SEW ONLINE, the military personnel registration system. While SEW ONLINE is used administratively and by several Ministry of Defence institutions, it is not a personal file archive. Given its classified nature, detailed functionality cannot be discussed. Leśkiewicz added that BBN had previously examined the benefits of accessing SEW ONLINE for security and support purposes, but the project was not implemented.
