Two people died in a crash on the S17 expressway near Garwolin, where a truck collided with a stationary passenger car carrying five occupants.

On the S17 expressway near Gocław, under Garwolin, in the Masovian voivodeship, a fatal accident occurred on the night of Friday, August 15. Initial investigations indicate that the truck driver collided with a stationary passenger car on the shoulder. Five occupants were traveling in the car. Two were killed at the scene, and three were injured. TVN24 reports that the victims were a woman and a man. Three severely injured people were taken to the hospital. The truck driver was also injured. The impact was so strong that the vehicle was completely destroyed and roofed. Five people were trapped inside the car, according to the TVN24 correspondent.
Rescue Operations Near Garwolin
A helicopter from the Air Rescue Service landed at the scene. Eight fire brigade units from the Otwock and Garwolin counties, including PSP and OSP teams, three medical rescue teams, and the police were also called. The S17 road is blocked, causing delays that could last several hours. Police set detour routes via local roads. Congestion is forming near the accident site. Police technicians are working on the scene under the prosecutor’s supervision.
