When Minister Lavrov exited his car outside the hotel, he was seen wearing a white hoodie emblazoned with “CCCP,” the Russian abbreviation for the Soviet Union that dissolved in 1991.
Russians Arrive in Alaska
Journalists asked Lavrov whether he had previously visited Alaska; he answered affirmatively. In addition to Lavrov, Russia’s ambassador to the United States Alexander Darchijew is already in Anchorage. The Russian Foreign Ministry earlier urged observers not to speculate about the Friday summit, stating that Russia has a clear position to be presented.
Alaska Talks: Trump to Meet Putin
The summit will commence at 21:00 CET (21:00 Poland time) on Friday in Anchorage. The White House announced that Trump will leave Washington at 12:45 and arrive in Anchorage at 11:00 Alaska time. The meeting, focused on the Ukraine war, will involve a four‑on‑four dialogue followed by delegations. Russia will be represented by several ministers. Trump is scheduled to return to Washington on Saturday.
