The White House released the full composition of the U.S. delegation heading to Alaska, where Donald Trump will meet Vladimir Putin. Moments before the talks, Trump posted a short message on his social media platform.
U.S. Delegation in Anchorage. Donald Trump: High Stakes
The White House announced the roster of the complete delegation traveling to Alaska. Members include Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, and her deputy Dan Scavino. Donald Trump logged onto his social media platform, Truth Social, a few hours before the meeting and posted, “High stakes.”
Putin’s People Already in Alaska
Some members of the Russian delegation have already arrived in Alaska. Vladimir Putin’s flight from Moscow paused in Magadan before heading to Anchorage, where Finance Minister Anton Siłuanow landed. He appeared reserved, only saying that he was there to discuss economic matters. More commentary came from Kiriłł Dmitrijew, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund and Putin’s adviser, who emphasized that the summit is crucial for the world and that main goal is to present Russia’s position to the U.S. side. Putin’s talks with Trump will also involve defense and foreign affairs ministers, and Kremlin adviser Yuri Uszakhov.
Summit in Alaska
The Trump‑Putin summit will begin at 21:00 Central European Time (11:00 Alaska time) at a base in Anchorage. The Russian side has confirmed a one‑on‑one dialogue before the full delegation meets in a four‑eyes format. Trump is expected to return to Washington on Saturday, 16 August, early morning CEST. The summit will focus on the war in Ukraine without Ukrainian representation, raising concerns that proposals for territorial concessions could be discussed.
