Will Nawrocki Meet Tusk Again? Media Preview a ‘Breakthrough’ on a Key Issue

Karol Nawrocki is set to meet Donald Tusk again — Onet reports. The dialogue will include the issue that has long been a sticking point between the president and the prime minister.

Another Nawrocki–Tusk Meeting?

Journalists at Onet have determined that Karol Nawrocki will soon meet Donald Tusk face‑to‑face again. First there will be a Cabinet Council on August 27, during which both leaders will be present, followed on September 3 by the former IPN president who plans to meet the U.S. president. According to Onet, it is just before this visit that a conversation between Karol Nawrocki and Donald Tusk could take place https://wiadomosci.gazeta.pl/donald-tusk#anchorLink. As written by Kamil Dziubka, the specific date is still unknown, but the government is ready to discuss an agreement on the nomination of ambassadors, which would be a “breakthrough” in this matter. Andrzej Duda did not want to nominate certain diplomats indicated by Radosław Sikorski https://wiadomosci.gazeta.pl/andrzej-duda#anchorLink.

Nawrocki Talks with Trump Instead of Tusk

Karol Nawrocki participated on Wednesday in a video call with Donald Trump, European leaders, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. He noted that a day earlier, government spokesperson Adam Szlapka had announced Donald Tusk’s attendance at the event. Later, the prime minister clarified that the decision had been made by the U.S. side, which chose Karol Nawrocki. “We previously knew that the participant of this meeting would be the President of the Republic,” said President’s Chief of Staff Zbigniew Bogucki on TVN24. “Why was this only announced after the video conference started? If someone does not maintain communication channels as part of normal functioning, and Donald Tusk has not maintained them to this day, he can, so to speak, get into trouble,” he explained.

Reactions after the Meeting

“We were in complete agreement with the president that we have beloved families and fantastic children,” the prime minister wrote on Thursday, August 14, following the meeting with the head of state. President’s Chief of Staff Pawel Szefernaker also voiced his opinion. “The meeting between President Karol Nawrocki and Prime Minister Donald Tusk mainly concerned international and security matters – the most important issues for Poles today,” he said. President Nawrocki presented the principles on which the cooperation between the president and the prime minister should be based in the most important matters for Poland and Poles https://wiadomosci.gazeta.pl/premier#anchorLink.
