A Bizarre Incident on TV Republika: Translator’s Blunder

During the night of Friday to Saturday (15/16 August), a joint press conference between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin took place. Viewers of TV Republika heard startling words at a certain point: “Take over, take over, because I don’t hear.” said one of the translators. For a moment the speech by the U.S. and Russian leaders was not translated, then a sound resembling the characteristic click of a lighter was audible, prompting social media users to point out its timbre.

The Alaska Summit Yielded No Breakthrough; Details of Trump’s Talk with Putin Remain Unknown

The summit began with a warm welcome at the airport. American media noted that the Russian dictator was received with honors as a leader of a friendly state, not a country that has remained very cold towards Washington for many years. Prior to the talks, some U.S. journalists close to both officials shouted at Putin: “When will you end the war?” and “When will you stop killing civilians?” The Russian dictator pretended not to hear those questions. After about three hours of discussion, the meeting was concluded, ending sooner than planned. The shared lunch of both delegations also failed to materialize. Even though the deliberations were labeled productive, no breakthrough was announced on suspending weapons in the war in Ukraine. Putin spoke for over eight minutes, while Trump spoke a little over three minutes. “We have truly made a big step forward. I have always had a fantastic relationship with President Putin,” said Trump. Both leaders did not declare a breakthrough in the issue of suspending armaments in the Ukraine war.
