Toruń: Trams Collide, Dozens Hurt Including Children

In Toruń, trams collided; 12 people, four of them children, were injured.

Toruń: Tram Collision

On Saturday, 16 August, around 10:40 a.m., a tram accident occurred at the Osiedle Młodych stop in Toruń. Police reports indicate that when one tram was stationary at the platform, a second tram entered the platform and crashed into the rear of the first. The incident was reported by Municipal Police Officer Sebastian Pypczyński. A total of 12 people were injured, including four children.

City Implements Replacement Service

The City of Toruń announced the launch of a temporary bus service to replace the disrupted tram lines. The new service will operate on the Motoarena – Aleja Solidarności corridor today, 16 August. Buses will stop near the tram stops to accommodate passengers.

City Mayor Issues Statement

The City Hall issued a statement confirming that the temporary bus service has been activated following the incident near the Osiedle Młodych tram stop. Initial findings suggest that tram No. 5 collided with the rear of tram No. 4. Emergency services are still active at the scene.
