Search for the 20‑Year‑Old on Lake Białe
After the disappearance of a 20‑year‑old man on August 15, police intensified the search near Lake Białe. Around 7:00 pm on Saturday, authorities received reports of his body being recovered from the water. The missing man, a resident of the Żyrardów County in the Masovian Voivodeship, had slipped from an inflatable mattress while swimming at the lake and disappeared beneath the surface after a few metres.
Police Urges Caution on Water
Police officials emphasized the importance of heightened vigilance, caution, and prudence for all those enjoying lake waters—adults, children, and teenagers alike. Overestimating one’s swimming ability, lack of supervision, or excessive bravado can lead to tragic outcomes. Common causes of drowning include inadequate swimming skills, recklessness, limited strength, alcohol consumption, and swimming in prohibited areas. Officers urged people to swim only in protected zones, avoid sudden dives, and refrain from swimming in water temperatures below 14 °C. They also reminded that inflatable mattresses and balloons are unsuitable for deep-water rescue.
Final Police Appeal
The police appeal to the public to remember that safe swimming is essential for preserving health and life—both for oneself and for those nearby.
