During a Polsat News broadcast, a heated clash erupted among politicians. Szefernaker, dubbed “the clairvoyant,” filmed themselves, and at one point Bartosz Arłukowicz shouted at cabinet chief Karol Nawrocki. What exactly happened?
Civic Platform MP on Trump‑Putin Talks
On Friday (August 15), Donald Trump met with Vladimir Putin. At the US‑Russia summit Polish politicians discussed the event on Sunday on Polsat News. “We must remember how Russian politics look. Here in Europe we know about it,” said the head of the president’s cabinet, Paweł Szefernaker. He also spoke about Bartosz Arłukowicz. “Trump’s submissiveness is becoming a global story, as all world media describe that Trump bowed to Putin,” assessed the MP from the Civic Platform. Adding that “Trump’s political courage is much greater than that of the first lady, Melania Trump.” He concluded, “The clash of these two worlds—the red carpet and Trump applauding Putin, and Melania Trump’s sharp writing—shows that this policy is not coherent. Trump’s agenda is something entirely different from what a normal person would propose.”
Tension on Polsat News. “The Clairvoyant Appears”
Bartosz Arłukowicz further criticized Donald Trump, who in his view “has been made to appear deflated.” He referenced the president’s campaign claim that the war in Ukraine would end in a day, calling it a “talk of a man who either doesn’t know geopolitics or ignores it.” Paweł Szefernaker responded, urging that “we should not insult our partners by saying someone has been made to appear deflated.” He added that Prime Minister Tusk now pays a great political price for his long‑standing insults toward Trump. “In the interest of Poland and Poles, let’s refrain from insulting our partners,” he reiterated. He warned that if Rafał Trzaskowski won the presidential election, he would ruin Poland’s relations with the United States. “Szefernaker, the clairvoyant, knows what it would be like with Trzaskowski. It worries me a little, though it’s good that Trump talks with him,” he said. Arłukowicz further emphasized his right to criticize the U.S. president, stating that it is merely “talking facts, not insulting.”
Effects of the Trump‑Putin Summit in Alaska
Donald Trump backed Putin’s proposal that Moscow take full control of Donbas and freeze front lines elsewhere in exchange for a settlement with Ukraine. Fox News, an ally of the American president, reported that Donbas comprises the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions. After meeting with Putin in Alaska, Trump informed European allies that the Russian leader reiterated his interest in key Kharkiv and Donetsk regions. He appears open to ending the stalemate in Zaporizhia and Kherson and freezing front lines, a solution Kyiv rejects. Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky is scheduled to arrive at the White House on Monday (August 18). After discussions in Alaska, Trump withdrew his support for a ceasefire and now seeks a peace agreement with Putin. The dictator has long shown that Moscow is not interested in a temporary truce but aims for a long‑term settlement aligned with Kremlin interests. Following phone talks with Zelensky and European leaders, Trump posted on social media that all agreed the best way to end the conflict is a direct peace agreement that would end the war, not merely a ceasefire.
