Crime in Stara Wsi: Shocking Gun Discovery Linked to Tadeusz Duda

Three firearms likely owned by suspect Tadeusz Duda have been recovered, providing new clues to the double murder that shocked Limanowa.

Investigators found three firearms

As reported by the local portal limanowa.in, the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Nowy Sączu secured three firearms that may belong to Tadeusz Duda. The weapons are the subject of two investigations: the murder of a 26‑year‑old woman and her 31‑year‑old husband in Stara Wsi, and the death of Tadeusz Duda. “During the ongoing proceedings we cannot provide details. We await further tests, including biological, fingerprint, and ballistic analyses,” said prosecutor Justyna Rataj‑Mykietyn to the portal.

One weapon may have been the murder tool

According to the portal’s findings, one of the recovered firearms is a rifle equipped with an optical sight. It may have fired the shots that killed the 26‑year‑old and her 31‑year‑old husband. The weapon was reportedly found in a ravine within the Ostrza forest massif. The second item was found near the body of a 57‑year‑old man and is likely a double‑firearm; a letter was supposedly attached, though detectives have not released its content. Little is known about the third weapon, though it was also reportedly discovered outside Tadeusz Duda’s residence.

Crime in Stara Wsi

At the end of June in Stara Wsi near Limanowa (Malopolska Voivodeship), a 26‑year‑old woman and her 31‑year‑old husband were murdered, and a 73‑year‑old woman (the wife’s mother) was injured. Suspect Tadeusz Duda, the father of the slain woman, was quickly suspected but evaded capture, fleeing into the forest where he hid for several days. Around 800 police officers, supported by border guard and military units, searched for him, using drones and armored vehicles. Early July the body of the sought‑after 57‑year‑old was found and autopsied. Investigators await the post‑mortem report and a forensic expert’s written opinion to determine if the man committed suicide. The suspect’s death does not end the inquiry; prosecutors will continue gathering evidence.
