Germany fears Trump has joined Putin’s camp: “He’s not on our side”

German Chancellor among European officials to accompany President Zelensky in Washington for a meeting with Donald Trump, while CDU politician claims Trump has shifted to Putin, abandoning Europe.

Germany fears Trump has joined Putin’s camp

German leaders express concern that former President Donald Trump has moved into Vladimir Putin’s camp, signaling a shift away from European interests.

CDU Politician’s Warning: Trump “is no longer on our side”

Roderich Kiesewetter, a CDU parliamentarian, emphasized that today, more than ever, European leaders such as Ursula von der Leyen, Friedrich Merz, and others must present a united front in Washington. He declares that Trump “is no longer on our side.”

Another CDU figure, former Chairman Armin Laschet, highlighted the importance of a “decisive week” and stressed that the primary focus for the Old Continent is guaranteed security.

Professor Thomas Jaeger’s Assessment

Professor Thomas Jaeger of the University of Vienna argues that Trump’s interest lies not in security guarantees from Russia but in positioning himself ahead of any potential Russian attack on NATO countries. He points to Danuta’s claim that Ukraine is secondary to Trump, who is more concerned about Taiwan, and sees it as a strategy to secure an Asian partner at the cost of Europe’s safety.

European Leaders Gather in Washington

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced his arrival in Washington and will meet President Trump to discuss ending the war in Ukraine. He highlighted the need for a swift and durable peace, contrasting it with the earlier forced surrender of Crimea. Trump scheduled the conversation for 19:00 Polish time, with European leaders such as Ursula von der Leyen, Mark Rutte, Friedrich Merz, Emmanuel Macron, Giorgia Meloni, Ulf Kristersson, Keir Starmer, and Alexander Stubb set to join the negotiations.
