Poland will not attend the meeting at the White House. Karol Nawrocki clarified that President Zel had invited European leaders, explaining why the Polish delegation would be absent.

On Monday, 18 August, Donald Trump will hold talks with Volodymyr Zelensky and leaders of the largest European states. The Polish representative will not appear at the White House gathering. During a ceremony appointing his advisers, Nawrocki stated, “I want to calm everyone.” He had recently participated in two talks with Trump and European leaders, presenting Poland’s clear stance of distrust toward Vladimir Putin and the Russian Federation. He added that the present coalition is a group of willing partners, with the Polish government represented under President Zelensky’s invitation of those European leaders.

Nawrocki reminded that on September 3, he will meet Donald Trump in the United States. He noted that the Polish president is the sole European leader who will meet Trump within such a short horizon. Using the media present, he appealed for a sense of calm and prudence, emphasizing that discussions with Prime Minister Tusk and the government focus on national security and international conditions rather than political emotions, which serve Poland’s interests.
Polish Summit in the USA – Statements by the Spokesman and Vice Minister on the Absence of a Polish Delegate
President’s spokesman Rafał Leśkiewicz highlighted that Nawrocki prioritises preparations for the visit scheduled on September 3, stating that “the matters of Poland’s and the whole region’s security, including the situation around Ukraine, will be key points on the agenda.” Vice‑Minister of Foreign Affairs Władysław Teofil Bartoszewski explained that the absence of a Polish delegate in the USA is not an issue, as European politicians will have limited influence on the negotiation process.

The agenda for Monday’s meeting between Zelensky and Trump is set for 19:00 Polish time. Around 21:00, the following leaders are expected to join the talks: President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and Finnish President Alexander Stubb.
