Poland’s weather will change thanks to the anticyclone “Kyra”, which will usher in sudden cooling. The IMGW has announced how long it may last.
Weather on Monday
The Polish Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) has informed that after a hot weekend, cooling will arrive. The high-pressure system “Kyra” will cause significant cloudiness across eastern Poland on Monday, 18 August. Temperatures are expected to drop, with thermometers showing a maximum of about 20 °C near the sea and up to 25 °C in the foothill and northeastern areas, while the west may reach 25 °C. Winds will be light to moderate, but gusts from the northwest and north may appear sporadically in the north.
Will the heatwaves return?
Temperatures are set to rise again on Tuesday and Wednesday, with maximums ranging from 20 °C near the sea and 23 °C in the northeast up to 27 °C in the west. Wednesday should be warmer, with thermometers reading 22 °C near the sea, 25 °C in the northeast, 29 °C in the center and south. On Thursday, IMGW foresees the return of heatwaves in the southeastern part, with temperatures up to 31 °C. The center may be slightly cooler, around 24 °C, while the sea will be the coldest, approximately 19 °C. Thursday will also bring moderate to heavy cloudiness, sparking storms in southern Poland.
Long‑term Weather Forecast
IMGW released a long‑term forecast indicating that on Friday, 22 August, the maximum temperature will be between 20–21 °C across most of the country. The pattern will persist for the next few days until Monday, when a warm front will begin to move into the south from noon, gradually spreading northward. For more information on the weather, read the article “When will the heatwave end?
