Head‑On Collision on Poland’s S7 Leaves Truck on Fire, Bus in a Pothole

A freight truck collided head‑on with a bus on Poland’s S7, setting the truck ablaze and bucking the bus into a ditch; five people are injured and fire and rescue teams are on the scene.

The Incident

A heavy‑truck collided head‑on with a bus carrying seven passengers on the S7 motorway near Powierz in the Nidzica County, Warmian‑Masurian Voivodeship. The impact sent the bus tumbling into a ditch while the truck burst into flames.

Injuries and Response

Five individuals were reported wounded—both drivers and three passengers of the bus. Firefighters and medical rescue teams, along with a helicopter crew, are actively combating the blaze and providing emergency assistance.

Current Situation

The road in both directions is blocked, with detour routes being established. Preliminary police reports indicate that a punctured tire caused the truck to breach barriers and cross into the opposite lane, leading to the collision.
