A new study reveals that 74 % of Polish internet users consider the United States not to be Poland’s true ally following the Trump‑Putin summit in Anchorage, with the meeting sparking fierce criticism of U.S. imperial policy and its treatment of Poland. 63 % of respondents posted negative comments, and reactions to Ukraine security guarantees were sharply divided.

Trump‑Putin Summit: Polish Internet Users’ Reactions

Polish internet users weighed in on the Trump‑Putin meeting in Anchorage. An analysis by the European Analytical Collective Res Futura found that 63 % of users posted negative comments about the encounter. Critics of the United States highlighted the country’s imperial policies and its instrumental treatment of Poland. Following the meeting, the red carpet was rolled out for the Russian dictator in Alaska, after which Putin entered the U.S. president’s limousine. According to PAP, 33 % of users viewed this as a “protocol standard” and “routine in state ceremonies.”

Meanwhile, 41 % of netizens commented that after the summit, President Volodymyr Zelensky should agree to conditions set by Trump and Putin, whereas 48 % believed the Ukrainian leader should not yield. After the summit, 59 % of comments about the Russian Federation were negative. PAP highlighted that 74 % of Polish internet users do not regard the United States as Poland’s true ally.

Meeting in Alaska

Donald Trump, after the Friday summit, stressed that he and Vladimir Putin intended to reach a “peace agreement” that would ultimately end the Russian‑Ukrainian war, not merely a ceasefire. Media reports said that during the Alaska summit the United States offered Ukraine security guarantees similar to those of NATO. “As one of the security guarantees for Ukraine, the U.S. side proposed a non‑NATO guarantee under Article 5, supposedly agreed with Vladimir Putin,” AFP reported.

Trump on Putin: “I Don’t Care About the Relationship”

After a meeting with Putin on Monday, a summit in Washington included Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders. In an interview with Fox News, Trump said that after the meeting he called Putin. He admitted to having “really good relations” with the Russian leader, but emphasized that such relations matter only if they lead to a deal. “I care only that we achieve something, and beyond that, I don’t care about the relationship,” he said. “I have good relations with him, but I want something done.” Trump noted that Putin might “not want a peace agreement,” and added that they would learn in the coming weeks what the outcome would be.
