Onet: Nawrocki Alleged to Bring Sex Workers to Grand Hotel
In May, between the first and second rounds of parliamentary and senatorial elections, Onet published an article by Jacek Harłukowicz and Andrzej Stankiewicz about Karol Nawrocki. The politician, who worked as a security guard at the Grand Hotel in Sopot during his studies, is said to have been involved in recruiting sex workers for hotel guests. Onet’s sources spoke anonymously but declared willingness to testify in court.
Private Civil Lawsuit Filed by Nawrocki
On May 27, Karol Nawrocki filed a civil suit against Ringier Axel Springer Polska. The case is registered under file number XVV C C 711/25, with Judge Aleksandra Orzechowska as clerk. On June 25 the court directed the parties to mediation. No hearing date has been set, and the outcome will depend on mediation results.
Nawrocki Demands Apology, Onet Claims No Basis
Ringier Axel Springer Polska’s lawyer stated the mediations ended before truly starting. Nawrocki seeks apologies from Onet, who argues there was no crime committed and the article was truthful, as highlighted by spokesperson Jakub Kudła.
Private Criminal Complaint Also Filed
On May 28, a private criminal complaint alleging defamation under Articles 212(1) and (2) of the Penal Code was submitted to the Mokotów District Court. Nawrocki seeks dismissal, arguing no basis exists. The judge’s decision is pending; the case likely begins in early September, according to Kudła.
