Prime Minister Tusk will participate in the ‘Coalition of Willing’ meeting at 12:00 and will also take part in the European Council format meeting at 13:00, the meetings will discuss the outcomes of Monday’s talks in Washington.

The talks were arranged several hours after European leaders, along with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, met with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House. Attendees included European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and Finnish President Alexander Stubb.
At the start, the German Chancellor emphasized that a ceasefire in Ukraine is necessary for peace talks, a view Trump disagreed with. Despite the disagreement, the meeting proceeded smoothly. Chancellor Merz noted that the U.S. President was very open and persuaded, among other things, to the long-discussed need for security guarantees. The British Prime Minister said the U.S. had made a “significant breakthrough” and praised hard diplomacy and planning that took tangible steps to increase the likelihood of peace.
No Poland in Washington
On Monday, representatives of the Polish government and the Presidential Office exchanged remarks on who should represent Poland in U.S. talks. Karol Nawrocki said that the ‘Coalition of Willing’ format meets on Monday; the government has long represented Poland in this coalition, the president stated. Ministerial staff assured the president was focusing on the visit he is scheduled to make to the White House on September 3. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski remarked that the U.S. President invites to meetings, and that Polish representatives from the MAGA movement and President Karol Nawrocki enjoy privileged relations. He urged them to be used for the benefit of Poland and Europe.
