National Security Office on the Incident in Osiny

The National Security Office (BSN) announced on Wednesday afternoon that President Karol Nawrocki is being kept fully informed of the situation in Osiny, a town in Łuków County. BSN chief Sławomir Cenckiewicz said he had spoken with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Władysław Kosiniak‑Kamysz. The BSN continues to receive information from government agencies and maintains contact with the Operational Command of the Armed Forces.

Drone Explosion in Osiny

At about 2 a.m. on Wednesday, fragments of a military drone fell from the sky onto a cornfield near Osiny, Łuków County, in the Lublin region. The drone detonated, breaking windows in nearby residential buildings. The Operational Command reported that preliminary radar‑location analyses found no incursion into Polish airspace from Ukraine or Belarus last night.

Prosecutor Confirms Explosion

Prosecutor Grzegorz Trusiewicz stated that the recovered drone fragments indicate the use of explosive materials, though he could not specify the type, quantity, or composition. “There is a very high probability—almost certainty—that an explosion occurred,” he said after 3 p.m. He added that another weapons‑technology specialist is on the scene to determine the device’s exact nature. Trusiewicz noted a crater 5–6 m in diameter and about 50 cm deep.

Army Minister Says Sabotage Cannot Be Ruled Out

Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak‑Kamysz announced that operations are underway across Łuków County, involving police, military police, territorial defence forces, and the operational military. Helicopters and UAVs were deployed to survey He acknowledged that the investigation considers three scenarios: a Russian drone, a smuggler’s drone, or sabotage within Polish territory. Prosecutors have tentatively excluded a civilian drone.
