Poland’s newly appointed Culture Minister, Marta Cienkowska, announced a sweeping audit of state media companies with a focus on TVP, promising results within two months and urging swift action on a pending media law amid tightening deadlines from the EU Directive.

Audit of State Media Companies

On Thursday, August 21, Marta Cienkowska outlined the ministry’s plans and current projects, announcing an audit of state media companies. She emphasized the need to determine whether the past 18 months have seen appropriate and mission‑aligned use of public funds, with a particular focus on Polish Television, and pledged to present the findings within two months.

Upcoming Media Law Draft

In talks with Finance Minister Andrzej Domański, Cienkowska reported that a draft of the media law is ready to move to the Sejm. She reminded that, since 8 August, Poland is obliged to implement the European Public‑Service Media Directive, making the deadline increasingly urgent.
