Reaction to the Flextronics Factory Strike
On Thursday, August 21, President Volodymyr Zelenski released a video in which he condemned a night‑time attack on the town of Mukachevo. The strike, attributed to a U.S. firm, damaged a Flextronics factory owned by Flex International, a U.S.‑based electronics producer. According to reports from the RBC portal, 23 people were injured. Zelenski described the assault as a “targeted attack on American property and investment in Ukraine” and described it as a “very fitting blow.”
Zelenski Criticizes Russia’s Evading Negotiations
Zelenski called Russia’s actions “unacceptable” and said the country is trying to escape the need to convene a meeting. He added that Russia refuses to end the war, continues massive assaults, and launches “very sharp attacks on the front.” The president noted that the White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt had reported that President Putin had agreed to meet with Zelenski, while Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov expressed hope that any agreements would resolve the “legitimacy” of the signatories.
Russian Drones Invade Poland and Lithuania
The Ukrainian leader also referenced recent incidents involving Russian drones. He said Russians were attacking even near EU and NATO borders, with a combat drone entering Polish territory. Similar unpleasant drone incidents occurred in Lithuania. “None of this is accidental; it is the shamelessness of Russia,” Zelenski said. He recalled that a drone crashed and exploded during the night around mid‑Tuesday in Osiny, Lublin Voivodeship, Poland, and remembered two Lithuanian incidents in July.
