Crime Details
The incident took place on Friday, August 22, at approximately 2:15 PM in Chorzów, Silesia Province. A man of unknown identity, aged 50-60, was repeatedly stabbed by the perpetrator. Despite emergency resuscitation efforts, the victim succumbed to his injuries. The attacker was identified by witnesses and later apprehended by police, according to Asp. Karol Kolaczek of the Chorzów Municipal Police Command.
Traffic Disruptions
Police are still conducting investigations at the scene, causing traffic disruptions. The intersection of Siemianowicka, Mazurska, and Bożogrobowe streets remains blocked, as reported by Magdalena Żubertowska from the Katowice Police Press Team to the Interia news outlet.
Action During a Knife Attack
General Tomasz Bąk, a military science doctor, advised the public in an interview with Nowiny24: “It is unquestionable that it is best to neutralize such an attacker. If you are unable to do so, seek a safe location and hide there.” The police emphasized that self-defense methods can be varied. “If you are attacked, you have the right to defend yourself. Use anything available to repel the attack: umbrellas, shoelaces, spray paint, keys, etc. When fighting for your health or life, your self-defense rights are very broad,” stated the Będzin County Police Command.
