Sieradz: Drunk 16-Year-Old Rides Scooter, Collides with Parked Vehicles

A 16-year-old intoxicated teen in Sieradz was riding an electric scooter and collided with two properly parked vehicles, prompting a family court referral.

Incident Details

On Tuesday evening around 7 p.m., a 16-year-old resident of Zduńsko-Wolski County was riding an electric scooter on Jagiellonian Street in Sieradz when they crashed into two parked cars—a Range Rover and a Renault Megane. Police confirmed the damaged vehicles and identified the minor as the responsible party.

Police Referral to Family Court

Authorities tested the teen’s alcohol level, which exceeded two per mille. An ambulance transported the underage individual to the local hospital. Due to their age, the case will be forwarded to the family court for further proceedings.

Scooter Usage Rules

Police emphasized that electric scooter riders must use designated bike lanes or paths, adhering to a maximum speed of 20 km/h. If such lanes are unavailable, riders must use roads with speed limits no higher than 30 km/h, maintaining a pace close to walking speed and yielding to pedestrians. Sidewalks are permitted only in the absence of bike lanes but require pedestrians to have priority.
